perfect cure for jet lag

couldn’t take it any more, so ripped out all stitching on one plate at my dinner party.

doesn’t look like very much, does it? was surprised at how long it took me to rip everything out – not as long as it took to put it in not once but twice, of course. how many times have i told myself: it’s not about shortcuts or finishing quickly. it’s about pleasing myself with the work.

true, but i am so hoping that third time is the charm cause other plates are getting hungry.

finished edging on autoquiltography one. now the next fun part can begin.

the only thing that seems to take longer than stitching….is ripping it out.

Those white gloves are the kind of perfect touch that look like they existed all along. Are they actually yours? I always try to convince myself that ripping out stitches is really good practice for developing patience. but I am a lousy liar to myself 😉

yep, acey, those are my own true gloves. this autoquiltography one is representative of the first ten years, and i wore these very gloves several times during my first ten. you are too funny about lying to yourself! i once read that back in the day, young girls made samplers and were forced to take out their stitching frequently, as often as necessary – allegedly to achieve perfection. me, i can’t help but wonder if there wasn’t another, deeper reason. i’m pretty much over that whole perfection thing – thank goodness. why, i doubt if i’d recognize perfection if it bit me on the nose. these days i only know what i like and what i don’t like. and that’s enough.
